In the World of the Scabs

Posted on 17 September 2009

I’m not really sure how many of you have ever read Atlas Shrugged, but those of you who haven’t should. It’s long, but more than incredibly enlightening. It points out the obvious to the ignorant masses who don’t understand that their rights are ever so slowly being taken away.

Just as a general (not giving anything away) overview, Atlas Shrugged is about a world in which the heads of various corporations are getting together with men in Washington to try and fix the economy, but still manage to benefit themselves more than others. The end result is the destruction of the world as we know it. Complete economical collapse.

In the world of Atlas Shrugged, the people who go along with the new policies – go along with something that a complete fool could see is stupid just because some smiling dude said “hey this is right, believe it” – are called “Scabs.” The people who run the businesses and companies that want nothing to do with the new policy and end up secluding themselves from the world and ceasing to offer their talents and services to help people who don’t appreciate it are…well, heroes.

Can anyone see yet how this might relate to real life today?

Obama (or other politicians, gotta make sure I don’t offend anyone here): We should do this.

Sheeple: Why?

Obama: Because. It’s good for you.

Sheeple: OK!

Healthcare reform? How much does the general public really know about the plans for it? Some of my college classmates are “all for it” but when you ask them about it, they can’t really tell you a whole lot. Here’s a link to the Obama/Biden healthcare plan. Take it with a grain of salt, politicians wouldn’t publish their entire actual plan on the internet for the general public to see. That would mean they did something consistent with the idea of democracy!

The Obama Healthcare Plan

So-cial-ismn – a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

That sounds nice and pretty and not terrible but…

so-cial-simn – the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

How does THAT sound? Yeah America…you’re being led straight into communism! And then its just a hop skip and a jump away from fascism.

Be careful what you wish for, America. You just might get it.

Just remember that the people ALWAYS have the power to stop their government when it gets to big for its breeches.
