Healthcare "Reform" Reality

So, as I’m sure some of you expected, I’m here to discuss the Healthcare Reform that our Congress passed late Sunday night and President Obama is expected to sign today (as I type this he hasn’t yet). Never mind that he made a promise that any legislation Congress passed would be posted for review and comment by the American public for five days before he signed it and now he’s totally ignoring his promise. Really, who cares about that, right? What’s important is only that 30 million uninsured are now going to be insured, right? In the overall scheme of things, having a president who lies to the American public doesn’t matter, right? What really does matter is how this legislation was developed, sold, passed and will now be signed – against the majority will of the American people.

Not so, you say? Hmmm… Let’s review, but before we do let me make a few statements that I feel need to be taken into consideration before some readers call me a heartless clod.

I believe that Healthcare Reform is a necessity. I think it’s unconscionable that there are children in the United States who cannot get adequate minimum medical care and attention. Medical service to Children should not be denied for lack of funding.

I don’t believe that those who are too lazy to work should ever be given anything for free; not welfare, not food stamps, not healthcare, not a license, nothing. If you’re too friggin’ lazy to get off your dead ass and go do something productive with your life, don’t bitch about living in squalor. It’s what you’ve earned.

I believe that Americans in general are a charitable people. It galls me that our government would pass laws mandating us to purchase a product (and that’s what health insurance is – a product) without first giving us an opportunity to be charitable. I find it reprehensible that our tax return forms give us the option of donating to a political election / campaign / committee fund, but doesn’t offer the opportunity to collect and distribute charitable funds for healthcare or housing or food. In the words of Garth Brooks, “We don’t reach for handouts; we reach for those who are down.” We’ve proven it time and time again. But instead of that we get this tyrannical legislation rammed down our throats against our will – and the politicians KNEW it going in.

Now, about that review…

In this article we read a Rasmussen Poll report about Congressional Performance. If the American people were happy with the performance of our elected representatives, then why would nearly two-thirds of us (64%) say that Congress is doing a poor job? Only 11% – not nearing anything that could be called more than a small minority – only 11% say that Congress is doing good. Hello!!! Congressmen and women are educated to some extent, right? I mean, they can read, right? They have staffs that tell them what people think, right? How can they deny knowledge of the general public’s DISapproval of their performance? 2/3 of us think they aren’t earning their keep!

In this article we read how, almost immediately after passing the Healthcare bill, democrats went into “damage control” mode. Now why would they need to do that if their constituency wanted the bill passed and backed the Congressperson’s actions? They wouldn’t have to. Democrats in Congress went into “damage control” mode because they knew before they voted that their constituency did not support this legislation. Going into damage control mode is a ready admission that they freely and with malice aforethought acted against the will of the very people they were elected to represent. THIS SHOULD BE AN IMPEACHABLE ACT

In this article we read about how President Obama is going to sign this bill (ignoring his promise to wait 5 days) and then go on the road to do two things: 1) celebrate, and 2) “sell” it to WE THE PEOPLE. First, yes, I italicized the word President. When a man tells his court what to do and they do it against the will of the people, then the man isn’t a president; he’s a monarch. We may as well start calling him King Obama because he certainly doesn’t give two shakes what the majority of American’s think. All he cares about is increasing his power – and as a constitutional law professor (at one time) he ought to know a LOT better than to think this legislation is allowed within the controls of the Constitution. But he knows that. So he’s celebrating the power he can wield – as proven by Congress’ blind following of his orders – and he’s going out to attempt to convince WE THE PEOPLE that he knows what is best for us – better than we do. I’m NOT advocating violence, but I don’t think he should be made to feel welcome anyplace in this great country of ours. If he’s so happy in his King’s Court in DC, he should stay there.

Finally, in this article we read about states that are preparing to launch lawsuits against the federal government based on the obvious unconstitutionality of the healthcare legislation. According to that article the count is only 11 states, but this morning on the radio I heard a report that as many as 38 states were preparing such challenges. Even if the number IS only 11, that’s still more than 1/5 of our country. Doesn’t that send a message?

America, we need to wake up and smell the coffee DAMNED QUICK. Whether you WANTED this legislation or not you desperately need to realize one thing:

Any government powerful enough to give you everything you want is powerful enough to take everything you have. – Thomas Jefferson

Unless you are willing to trade your very liberty and freedom for handouts from the government – and that’s what you’re doing if you buy into this healthcare reform crap – then you need to take a stand. Otherwise our history is either quite bleak, or nearing another turning point as we water the Tree of Liberty.

I invite you all to read this article I wrote about one possible future of our great nation. 2012: The End Of The World As We Know It. Please leave your thoughts and comments below.
