A couple months ago I wrote an article about the difference between right and wrong versus legal and illegal. My point in the article was that we cannot legislate right and wrong. While our elected representatives can pass legislation that is so greatly detailed and written in such complicated legal-lese that even our Supreme Court has a difficult time understanding it on occasion, they still cannot EVER legislate right and wrong. Does it matter?
Absolutely.
There are some things in our life that matter a great deal and knowing right from wrong is one of the. I’ve often told friends and family that I believe we teach our children right from wrong by the age of five and after that we’re just helping them learn judgment. Improving our judgment is an endeavor that should be life long – at least I hope it is; otherwise we never learn from our mistakes.
There are also some people from whom we expect not only legal actions but also right actions. I’m not talking about “right” actions in the sense of right/conservative versus left/liberal. I’m talking about simple right and wrong. I will use ex-president Bill Clinton as my example. The only ILLEGAL thing he may have done is lie to Congress about his illicit affair with a White House intern. From start to finish his behavior through the course of the affair, the investigation, the hearings, his speeches to the American People, etc were all WRONG. Set aside that the President of the United States – at least prior to our current president – was considered the “leader of the free world” and OF COURSE we expect him to behave in a moral and ethical fashion, which goes above and beyond LEGAL fashion.
Oddly enough, even in Washington DC where nearly all politicians are more than willing to stab fellow politicians in the back if it means more power or money or influence, members of the House and Senate seem willing to forgive their fellow politicians for being imperfect. If a mistake is made often it just needs to be admitted, apologized for and all those warm-hearted forgiving politicians welcome the errant pol back into the fold with open arms. Truth be told, all of them know they are one interview question or photograph away from being caught themselves so everyone is careful not to hang anyone else out to dry. They all need to watch each others’ backs. So who is watching the backs of the American people?
This is an election year. Already we have seen where the angry will of the American people has reared its ugly head and made it abundantly clear to the current crop of money-suckers serving in Congress and the White House: we are sick and tired of you ignoring us. We are sick and tired of you interfering in our daily lives. We are sick and tired of you creating laws that you exempt yourselves from. We are sick and tired of you creating laws that are so complicated it will take YEARS to determine whether or not such law is valid and then when the challenges come, the Supreme Court Justices – even if they ARE hand-picked by our current president – may not be able to understand them to make a definitive ruling.
So once again I ask: Who’s got our backs?
It appears as if a few state legislatures are standing up and accepting the burden of their office. A few governors have stepped up and accepted the responsibility they carry and are fulfilling it in accordance with the will of the people they serve, even when such actions anger the political power brokers in DC. The momentum of the pendulum that is swinging back toward fulfilling the will of the people; returning to our root values; returning to self-reliance; limiting “big brother’s” involvement in our days… That momentum seems to be building and it is good!
But just because the momentum is building doesn’t mean we can sit back on our laurels and watch it swing. Momentum will dwindle unless we continue to feed it power. WE do that… not any state government nor the federal government. WE feed the pendulum of power and we need to not relax. Virtually every member of the House of Representatives was / is up for re-election this year. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM deserves to be re-elected. Any Senator that is up for re-election this year needs to be un-elected DAMNED QUICK. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM DESERVES RE-ELECTION.
It is up to us to send a strong message to “big brother” and the message is this: WE THE PEOPLE control the government and, in the United States of America, it will NEVER be the other way around. If you think so, take a look around at what’s happening across our great nation. WE THE PEOPLE are standing up and making ourselves heard. WE strongly suggest you listen…
Read on and stay safe.

VERY good!!
THE ONLY Way We The People (US Citizens) will get this country back to “normal” is to boot out Congress and any lobby group supporting them.
Keep it UP…

There is a ‘conservative’ tsunami building. It started this winter/spring and is further enhanced by conservatives winning in Utah and South Carolina. These people seem to be ‘constitutionalists’ and that’s what we so badly need. Constitutionalists can come in all stripes; Republican, Democrat, Libertarians. Doesn’t matter to me as long as we look at the Constitution as the ‘book of rules’ which can be changed but only through a deliberative process. We are still a representative republic but we are going to have to start the revolution November 2010. We cannot wait another election cycle.
