I Don't Agree

Just recently I received an email from one of our readers. Part of the email was a list of things that the original writer did not agree with President Obama about. It made me think, “Hmm…” and I found myself going through the list to see if I agreed or disagreed with the writer – which also would indicate whether I agreed or disagreed with our president.

The first statement was, “I do not share Obama’s vision or value system for America.” Based on the performance I’ve seen from our President so far and what I believe his performance indicates his value system to be, I don’t agree with President Obama either. (That’s expanded on further down)

Next came, “I don’t share his abortion beliefs.” This one is difficult because I’m not sure any of us knows exactly what President Obama’s abortion beliefs are. Further, as long as he doesn’t try to affect policy or law based on his personal abortion beliefs, then I think his beliefs are irrelevant. My own personal belief about abortion is this: I don’t agree with it. That said, I’ve never been in the position of having to make the choice whether or not to have an abortion, and I’ll (obviously) never be in that position. I can imagine circumstances where a woman might view abortion as the better alternative. That’s her choice. I don’t have to agree with it. I just believe that in the land of the free no one should tell that woman what she can or can’t do with her body and that fetus – and yes, I fully recognize that it’s such a murky issue debate could go on forever. Bottom line: until we can document an abortion had by Mrs. Obama, we have to assume that he’s not in favor of it as a frivolous course of action.

Then came, “I do not share his radical Marxist concept of re-distributing wealth.” I’m firm on this one. I don’t agree with him even a little bit. What you earn should be yours and “wealth redistribution” is a tactic only favored by poor people and people who want poor people to vote for them. If rich people are in favor of wealth redistribution, there is nothing in our laws that prevents them from giving away all of their possessions and money. They can have at it. NOTHING gives the government power to STEAL my hard-earned money (or any other money for that matter) and give it to someone else.

“I do not share his views on raising taxes.” I’m on track with this one too. Taxes are too high as it is and his administration has created new ones while calling them something different. Yes, folks, I believe that Obamacare is the creation of a new tax and part of his wealth redistribution program.

“I do not share his view that America is arrogant.” Um, nope – not even a little bit. There is a difference between pride and arrogance and we’re the former. When any other country in the world, in documented history, can show that it has come to the aid of as many other countries as America has, then I’ll stop bragging. Until then, this is still the greatest nation on Earth and if you don’t feel the same way I invite you to pack up and move to whatever country you think is better. Give up your American citizenship and go on. You may NOT come back.

“I do not share his view that America is not a Christian Nation.” As much as it pains me and I’m sure it will aggravate some of you, I DO agree with President Obama that America is not a Christian Nation. I believe that the large majority of our Founding Fathers were Christian. I believe that they carried Christian values. I believe that they did all they could to build those Christian values into our founding documents. That said, I also believe they went out of their way to insure that the government could never espouse or mandate a specific religion. In my view they went out of their way to insure that every American is free to worship as they see fit without fear of government oppression. That alone prevents America from being a “Christian Nation”.

“I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%.” Not just no, but HECK no!! Our American military nees to be returned to the power that it once was; the power that every nation on Earth wanted to be friends with because they dared not be an enemy. We’ve come a long way in technology and that has increased our military power in measurable ways. However, NOTHING – I repeat, NOTHING replaces the American fighting man or woman on the ground. Claiming that technology wins wars is like claiming computers arrest people. Technology is SUPPORT.

“I do not share his view on amnesty for illegal aliens and his penchance for giving more to illegals than to American citizens.” Um, DUH! This is a no brainer. In my view illegal aliens are part of an invading force and should be removed post haste. Yes, I believe compassion should be used and children cause complications. Families of those serving in our armed forces need special consideration. However, every illegal immigrant currently in one of our prisons for having committed any misdemeanor or felony crime should IMMEDIATELY be deported. I don’t like wasting my tax dollars keeping them healthy and getting them educated in our prison system.

“I do not share his view on homosexuality and his definition of marriage.” Assuming President Obama admires homosexuals and feels that marriage should be between any two consenting adulst, then I have to say I don’t agree with him. To me “marriage” is a religious ceremony created centuries ago to bond a man and a woman as the foundation of a family. If homosexuals want a permanent legal union, I have no problem with civil unions in the states that approve such. In my book ONLY those homosexuals who have entered into a civil union should receive any tax or medical benefits like a married couple. I take HUGE umbrage with the FACT that in many of our public school systems today homosexuality is being taught not only as a “normal” lifestyle but also as one that is brave and admiraable and to be imitated.

“I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and Israel is our enemy who should give up any land.” Um, NOPE!!! Radical Islam is not the friend of anyone. Period. Radical Islam demands and accepts only three things from us: taxes, slavery and death. Israel is, quite literally, on the front lines in the fight against the spread of Radical Islam and I believe we should be standing beside her, not back-stepping even an inch. Now, that said – PEACEFUL Muslims should be welcome the world over and should speak out against RADICAL Islam every time RADICAL Islam commits heinous crimes of cruelty and violence against anyone. If you are not against Radical Islam, then by default you are for it.

“I do not share his spiritual beliefs.” Since President Obama very rarely speaks about his religious faith beyond the one time he admitted being Muslim and the times he had to try to distance himself from an American-hating “Christian” preacher, I don’t know if I agree with his spiritual beliefs or not. I DO know that MY spiritual beliefs would not allow me to, in good conscience, travel the same path he is.

So… that’s where I ended up. I approached my agreements and disagreements with President Obama as much as I could from a fair and impartial stance. Obviously I’ll never run for office because my views would piss off far too many people – and “making happy” with the voters isn’t what I’m about.
