New American Truth

Just about a century and a half ago our country suffered through its Civil War. Whether you wish the south had won or are happy the north won; whether you believe it was all about slavery or not; whether you feel it was a battle between the states and the federal government to see which had ultimate sovereignty; no matter your outlook, there’s one thing we should all agree on: Our country shouldn’t have to suffer through another one.
Well, I have good news and I have bad news.
The good news is that if we do suffer through another one it’s not as likely that it’ll be nearly as bloody and cost us as many lives as the first one did. It’ll more likely be “fought” at the ballot box unless some greedy and power hungry politicians get too far out of hand and have to have their leashes yanked HARD.
The bad news is that we may already be seeing the beginnings of it and it’s not nearly as easily divided into regions as the last one was. Instead of “north versus south” this one is going to be broken into anti-federal government versus pro-federal government. The sad part is that depending on who you talk to, your anti-federal government stance may be called seditious, racist, ignorant, etc.
In the past decade we’ve seen some interesting political shifts across the United States. Before I get into discussing them too far, I need you to understand that I generally view the conservative crowd as largely preferring to be self-reliant and independent. Other political groups fall into that same category: Libertarians, Constitutionalists… those you’d generally think to find at a Tea Party Rally. They’d really rather that “Big Brother Government” would mind its own business and leave us alone to live our lives. Do your minimum job using minimum taxes and quit intruding into how I live my life.
That said, those folks in general are pro-2nd-Amendment. They strongly believe in the innate human right of self-defense and they won’t tolerate being denied the most basic and simple tools to exercise that right. Moreover, they believe in the necessity of the citizens holding power over the government (as our founding fathers meant for it to be) and they understand that corrupt, greedy and power-hungry politicians only ever respect power. Those same citizens, although they may not like to consider it, firmly believe that the 2nd Amendment provides us our last line of defense against a tyranical government as well.
Those folks believe they should be able to defend their home against illegal intrusion without fear of civil or criminal reprisal. They tend to believe they should be able to defend themselves on the street in public in the same way.
They tend to believe that the federal government has no business – as documented by the Constitution – in telling them how to live their daily lives. Again I repeat: take minimum taxes and do your minimum Constitutionally restricted job. Everything else – all other “governmental” responsibilities are relegated to the states or the citizens.
Now, back to that past decade. We’ve seen the large majority of our states pass “Shall Issue” laws or “Right to Carry” laws that have increased the number of citizens who are now legally armed across our country on a daily basis as they live their lives. We’ve seen a large number of states pass “Castle Doctrine” laws and “Stand Your Ground” laws which make it clear that defending your home, family and yourself against illegal intrusion or assault isn’t a crime and you cannot be punished either criminally or civilly for such righteous defense.
More recently we’ve seen states enacting sovereignty legislation which serves, in essence, to remind the federal government that it’s not all powerful and that it does need to “mind its place”.
As our current federal government administration and “political leadership” passed an un-Constitutional Healthcare Reform law, several states immediately passed legislation nullifying such a law in the state and challenging the veracity of such federal legislation.
Even more recently the state of Arizona stepped up and passed its own law regarding Illegal Immigration and enforcement of Immigration laws. The firestorm ensued (which was entertaining since Arizona’s law basically mirrors the existing federal immigration law anyway; it just empowers local law enforcement professionals to enforce those laws rather than waiting for a proven-incompetent under-funded failed Big Brother Federal Government to do it).
Just today (as I type this) it’s reported that three other state legislatures are now considering Immigration Enforcement laws similar or identical to Arizona’s: Oklahoma, South Carolina and Utah. As the Federal Government sues Arizona in a Federal Court (isn’t that a complete violation of ethics and a conflict of interest? Having a federal court hear a case filed by the entity that funds and controls it?) over the validity of the state law, three other states are considering doing the same thing. Their state legislatures and governors are apparently not impressed by the federal government’s outlook about Arizona’s law. More likely they are unimpressed with how the federal government has performed thus far.
So, I sat to type as I pondered these events and political reportings. I for one am hoping that WE THE PEOPLE make our voices heard strongly in this year’s elections. We’ve been doing okay so far in the early elections in various states. But we haven’t succeeded in getting our message across – or those in office are simply too stupid to hear it: We will not tolerate a government that ignores our will and treats us like “commoners”.
WE THE PEOPLE hold the power in this country and we need to make sure those who serve us know it.

I’d like to vote away the very citizenship of these scoundrels.
It is the arrogance itself though, that incites one to become “physical”.
I think you people are a day late and a dollar short. Where were you all when wars were being started in Iraq over the protests of millions? Or when the government wanted to know who checked what books out of the libraries? Or when the “roving wiretaps” on American citizens were employed?
But now, over healthcare reform, you’re ready to revolt. I think you’re sadly misled, my friend.
