"They" say, "The Lord Works In Mysterious Ways." This past week the statement was proven to be all too true. I had been thinking about a friend and business associate and had just recnetly dug out some old advertising material that I'd built for him. I included it in some of the work I produced - why I couldn't tell you. But then I got a phone call from him on Monday and he hadn't seen the work - but called me asking if we could team up on something. I can find no good explanation for this except that we both were thinking about simply being nice to each other.
The second item I have to address today is a public apology. A few years ago I had the pleasure of doing business with a man named Scott Dube of Mad4Art. Scott does exceptional work and I traded him some advertising space in return for a couple of banners that he built for my use. After awhile, a mutual acquaintance of ours fed me a line of crap about how Scott had done him wrong, was hurting his business, etc etc blah blah blah. At the time I had no reason to doubt that acquaintance and I ended up not feeling generous toward Scott. When the time ended for our agreement about advertising I immediately terminated it. When Scott contacted me about it I was less than pleasant in my response. As things have worked out, that mutual acquaintance has proven less than reliable and I've been left feeling like an ass for how I treated Scott. So...
Scott, please accept my most humble apology. I had no good reason to treat you as I did and if you'd care to pursue further advertising - free of charge - contact me for the graphic size specifics and let's get it set up.

| Tactical Equipment Evaluation:
VooDoo Tactical Gun Bags
At SHOT Show this year I met the good folks at VooDoo Tactical. I had been introduced to them by the OTHER good folks at AmericanSnipers.org. The veteran snipers had a good opinion about the products from VooDoo Tactical and suggested that I might want to try them out. SO, there I was shaking hands and making arrangements. A couple weeks later I received two gunbags to try out and they've been holding rifles and other gear since then. The short report is, they work. The long report is... online. |

SOG Tiger Shark Knife
It's always a pleasant surprise when I find a box sitting on my steps from SOG Knives. Usually I know to at least be looking for it but this last time it was completely out of the blue. Inside were two knives: a new version of the SOG Bi-Polar folder and a SOG TigerShark. I'm still putting the Bi-Polar through some of its paces but the TigerShark I had opportunity to use and abuse and see if I could break. I was unsuccessful. First off, this is a BIG knife - to me. Second, it performed well for everything I put it through. Here's what I did... |
Reading
As I was reading various news and information emails that I receive each day, I came across a quote credited to Senator O'Bama that cites an unspecified group of people (that I think we can figure out) saying, "...they get bitter, they cling to guns, or religion... or anti-immigrant sentiment..." The quote is a bit longer and is cited in full (as I received it) below, but these few words got me to thinking. Long time readers won't be surprised to find out that I'm no fan of the Senator, but truth be told I'm simply not a fan of contemporary politics. I believe our government's political system has strayed far from the path originally set by our forefathers and, while I'm certainly not advocating a revolt, I believe a large change in how our government - or specifically the politics of our government - is run is necessary. |
| Blogs on Officer.com
For those of you who weren't aware, since December of '07 I've been the Editor-In-Chief for Officer.com. Recently we've added five new bloggers to that interactive environment. Here's the opening paragraph of the most recent blog I wrote about "The Way of the Samurai" and how those values may be applied today.
The Way Of The Samurai
So I was sitting in a hotel room in New York waiting to attend a law enforcement expo, and The Last Samurai was on television. One line made me think about the current state of affairs in our country, and I felt compelled to start typing about it. The line was, "The way of the samurai is no longer necessary." Just moments before the "way of the Samurai" had been described as, "...a life of service, discipline, compassion." No one can ever doubt or question that the Samurai were warriors. The term compassionate warrior has been one of my favorites for a long time. |
