Letter From The Editor, January 2011

Yep, it’s a New Year.  Another year to look ahead at all we want to accomplish and (hopefully) back at the previous year’s accomplishments.  For us at New American Truth 2010 was a great year.  Much has changed…

At the beginning of 2010 we completely redesigned the website.  I have to confess: we didn’t go about it the right way.  Well, not the most efficient way.  It was better than it had been – but not as “clean” on the back end as it could be. What’s that mean to you, the reader?  Not much.  It just meant we had to do extra work in our attempts to bring you the information and reading material in an easy-to-access manner.  Obviously, as with any publication, it also affected how well we provided services to our advertisers, and it impacted on how well the magazine and the weekly newsletter interfaced. UN-Common Sense, January 2011

As you have probably already noticed (or read in our Editor’s letter), this issue is about Health & Fitness. In my past I’ve worked in the fitness industry as a personal trainer (and even sales) at several Southern California gyms. I’ve had the opportunity to get certificates in several areas of physical fitness (education is never a bad thing). Understanding how the human body works (especially biomechanics) helps you develop and maintain a healthy workout. Having said this, I must admit that getting outside and working out gets MUCH more complicated, as other responsibilities become a priority. Those of you with a wife/husband and children understand that sometimes life just gets in the way. I’ve been able to maintain my weight without too much issue, it’s pretty much mathematics. Where I’ve been falling behind is overall muscle mass and cardiovascular endurance. It’s impossible to stay capable of cranking out a 100-mile bike ride without putting in the miles (and time) on the bike. This is all well and good but this month’s column isn’t about staying in shape as an individual. This month I have to address something that is killing our country, or more importantly our country’s kids. Continue reading UN-Common Sense, January 2011

Citizens of Liberty: 2011 – Now What??!?

January.  The start of a new year, new beginnings, new resolutions.  It is actually one of my favorite times of the year.  Yes, it is a chance to reflect on the last 12 months to see what I have learned and what I could do better.  Even more interesting to me is to think about the upcoming 12 months.  What might be possible to cause, to create, to impact?  I love new adventures and new challenges. Continue reading Citizens of Liberty: 2011 – Now What??!?

UN-Common Sense, December 2010

I’m sure many of you have seen the movie A Bronx Tale. In it a young man grows up the son of a bus driver while worshipping the local wise guys. In one scene our young troubled kid is discussing how bad he feels for Mickey Mantle after a Yankee loss. This discussion culminates with Sonny (mob boss) setting the kid strait, “If your dad needs money, go ask Mickey Mantle. See what happens. Mickey Mantle don’t care about you. Why care about him?” Continue reading UN-Common Sense, December 2010

Letter From The Editor, December 2010

Hello, America!!  Welcome to December.  There is plenty of good to talk about this month, and not much to complain about, but I’m going to get the complaining out of the way first.  Hopefully it will serve as an inspiration for action!

Our mid-term elections have passed.  In the President’s own words his party received “a shellacking”.  Certainly the Democrats lost quite a bit of power base but when I sit back now and look I realize that it’s a mixed blessing.  To be blunt, I don’t have a huge amount of faith in either of the “big two” political parties.  In my outlook too much power rests with the popularly elected within those parties.  I think it’s time for two things to occur but one of them requires positive action on that part of the Senators and Congressmen in our system – and they simply don’t have the morale fortitude to do it.  Even though it would be the RIGHT thing to do, it would cost them either in power, prestige or dollars and they simply aren’t willing to give up ANYTHING. To Live

First there must be life… and you have that.
Then security… Peace Keepers and family furnish that.
Next, challenge…
To meet challenge there must be some kind of strength… mental, emotional, spiritual…
all are necessary…
Adversity also comes to play…
When adversity comes to play, that necessitates a choice…
With choices come some victories… some defeats… some stalemates…
Any of these may be large or small…
To those who develop persistence there also comes reward. Continue reading To Live

UnCommon Sense, Oct 10

I’ve been doing a great deal of reading lately. You see, I’ve been trying to find a neutral source of news that will call it straight. What I’m actually looking for is a news source that just reports the news. In doing research for other articles I’ve found that I am forced to hit more than a dozen sources to compile a reasonable proximity of “the truth.” It seems painfully apparent that ALL news sources are skewed (or screwed?) toward some sort of agenda. Continue reading UnCommon Sense, Oct 10

Letter From The Editor, Oct 10

Well, it’s officially fall. Before long (if not already) the leaves will be changing colors and falling from the trees; the temperatures will begin cooling some; smoke will start coming out of chimneys and campers will try to get in a few last trips before it gets TOO cold. Now is the time – if you haven’t already done so – to go pick up all the branches in your yard; break them up and set them aside as fire wood whether your fire will be inside or out. (I’ve got a lot of picking up to do) Continue reading Letter From The Editor, Oct 10

Letter From The Editor, September ’10

Good day. Welcome to September. If we got this out on time you’re reading it on Labor Day – the day we celebrate and appreciate all the hard workers in our country. Please, for the love of goodness, don’t mistake politicians for hard workers. Hard workers are the electricians, plumbers, mechanics, construction workers, farmers, truck drivers, firemen, law enforcement officers, rescue workers, and 99% of our military service members (1% is the upper echelon which count as politicians). Celebrate the hard workers; if praying suits you, say a prayer for them. If you’re one of them (or were and are retired) THANK YOU for your contribution to the greatest governmental experiment ever created: The United States of America.
