Then the clouds over us parted and bright sunlight shone through and illuminated all around us all the way to the storm on the mountains to the west where the storm had stalled and was still pouring. We did the committal service and exchanged greetings. Then several family members visited other grave sites.

His name is Lewis. He is my friend and brother-in-law. We married sisters. We hunted together. We preached together. We cut logs, pulpwood and firewood together. We had much in common. We were country boys. He died Thursday night (last night as I type this).

Steam was dead or dying. Train service was being cut back. Jobs were being reduced. During testing I was told I was qualified for engineering, law enforcement and clergy. Over the ensuing years I have done all three, sometimes all three parallel with each other.
