Recognizing that there are preventable deaths occurring from blood loss resulting from extremity wounds, the ability to control / stop bleeding is highlighted. This week I took a look at two products that are designed for just that purpose: the SWAT-T and QuikClot Combat Gauze.

Gerber’s Bullrush is a recent release that is basic, comfortable and relatively compact. It has what you need and not a bunch of stuff that you probably don’t.

As is the case with most things in the military, they trickle their way down to the civilian market and in to our daily lives. This is the case with what has been dubbed the “Blow Out Kit” (BOK) or “Individual First Aid Kit” (IFAK).

In general, most adults today know how to treat the simple stuff; the stuff you deal with at home growing up and if you’re a parent or guardian for children. I know a gentleman who claims he carries two trauma kits: One for creating the trauma, and one for bandaging the trauma. I happen to be familiar with both of his “kits”. One is a Glock Model 19 while the other is one he built himself containing a tourniquet, two pressure bandages and minor other [...]

At any given time, today’s warriors may be injured, in need of immediate medical care, and unable to provide important personal health information to the health care provider. This can happen in the field, at home, at work, or driving down the road. For years folks have been seeking solutions to provide critical information. Bracelets, [...]
