In my years between four and eight we lived in the southern part of the county where my daddy served as a railroad section hand and served in the U.S.Army.  He came home in ’46 and we moved in ’47 to the north eastern part of the county.  dad had qualified to become a section foreman.  During that period of time he had owned several old cars that he always had trouble keeping running. I have been through much in these weeks since I last communicated with you.  I was very greatly incapacitated and immobilized by strained muscles for many days…  I had a digestive tract problem that would not respond to efforts to correct it…  I lived on clear fluids for many days.  When these two maladies came under control and were eased, then I was in a battle with chest congestion…

02/15/14 – AFGHANISTAN – In a statement issued on Saturday, the US-led Western coalition said one of its service members died after an improvised explosive device went off in southern Afghanistan. However, the statement did not provide further details about the nationality of the US-led trooper or the exact location of the incident.  Saturday death brings to five the number of US-led forces who have been killed in the war-torn country so far this month.  According to the latest figures released by the website icasualties.org, 3,423 foreign soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since the US-led war began in the country more than twelve years ago…  (PRESS TV & GOOGLE ALERTS)

01/31/14 - GREENSVILLE CO., VA – Deputy Sheriff Percy Lee House, III was killed in an automobile crash while responding to a call.  (NLEOMF)
UPDATE 02/02/14 – The missing sheriff’s deputy was found dead in a creek this morning after what appears to be a weather-related crash.  Percy Lee House III, 52, had been missing since Friday morning. He was found in his car in a creek off Massie Branch Road, according to a news release from the Virginia Sheriff’s Association. Read the full story

01/15/14 – ATLANTIC OCEAN OFF VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – A fighter pilot from Oceana Naval Air Station was in critical condition Wednesday after ejecting from his jet over the Atlantic Ocean.  The single-seat F/A-18 Super Hornet from Strike Fighter Squadron 143 went down about 2:35 p.m., said Cmdr. Mike Kafka, a spokesman for Naval Air Forces Atlantic. The cause of the crash is under investigation…
