Given that the Government Model 1911 .45ACP pistol celebrated its 100th birthday on March 29th last year I found myself looking back across my “firearms career” at the .45s I’ve owned or experienced. For me (and yes, you can call me weird), it’s almost like looking back at girlfriends I remember fondly, some of whom I parted with for reasons I can’t quite remember now. Thankfully our laws aren’t the same when it comes to guns and wives because I’d be in deep trouble given the condition of my gun safe. The forty-fives I’ve owned span several different manufacturers and different sizes but they all have one thing in common: the size of that hole in the end of the barrel. Read the full story
