The Hunger Games movie review

I’m not one to usually write movie reviews,but pieces of this one resonated strongly both with the historical implications and the contemporary affairs similarities. I will do my best not to give anything away.

The setting for this movie is a fictional future. There is no specification of location but many cities are referred to as “the rubble” so there is the implication of a country after a devestating war. Further, there are 12 districts and the narrative introduction talks about how the disrtricts “rose up” in revolt but were eventually overcome. In some truly convoluted logic (like today’s politics) the 12 districts each send “tribute” annually to compete in The Hunger Games. The “tribute” is one male and one female beteen the ages of 12 and 18, the names drawn at random each year during “the reaping.” The number of times the child’s name is put into the drawing is dependent on how many times they’ve accepted food from the government source.
